Understanding Users and Roles
Overview
Marketplace Owners and Vendors access the Admin Portal using the same login page.

The difference lies in the User Role that the user belongs to. A User Role dictates what access individual users will have, and what data will be presented to them.
Typically, there are 3 types of users on the platform:
- Marketplace Owners
Users with this role will have full access to the Admin Portal. Product / Sales data from all Vendors will be available to view. - Vendor Admin
Users with this role will have restricted view (typically set up by the User Role configuration), so that they usually will not see many configuration options, or Marketplace Owner specific menu items. Another restriction is that Vendors will only be able to see their own products, profile and their own part of an order. Example for orders visibility:- Orders containing only their products
These will appear for the Vendor with the full total of the order and all applicable line items. - Orders containing their products and other vendor's products
These will appear for the Vendor with a recalculated total of their own products only - removing any other Vendor details (such as shipping information, products and totals). This means if a Marketplace Owner will view this order, they would see the FULL order value, rather than a filtered view that the Vendor sees. - Orders not containing their products
These orders will not appear for the Vendor. Vendor Admins can usually see all aspects of their profile and are considered as the "Parent" role.
- Orders containing only their products
- Sub-vendor Admin
Users with this role are typically created by the Vendor Admin. They can have the same or more restricted access (seeing only partial to what a Vendor Admin can see). Like the Vendor Admin, all data will be specific to the Vendor they belong to, and values are calculated solely for their own items. The User Roles will need to be created by the Marketplace Owner first before a Vendor can assign a user to this role.
